This morning when we stepped out the door, knowing Cole was ready to finally come home, we noticed we had had a visitor. The preemie stork had come to let us know there would be a delivery.

Fortunately there was a dusting of snow so we had proof.
When we got to the hospital we put Cole in his homecoming outfit.

Here I go!
However, it was going to be freezing out so he needed an additional layer.

We signed seventy five pages of forms, packed Cole into his car seat, and gave teary eyed hugs to all the doctors and nurses who were present to see us off. It was really intense saying good bye to these people; they really do become family. Leaving was definitely bittersweet. One of the nurses got a snap of us as we went through the exit.

We got him into the car, and drove him home at about 7 mph. It was awesome. Freedom tastes so sweet. We got home and immediately took a bunch of ridiculous pictures.

Then after acclimating at home for a little while, we got a great email from a friend from the NICU. She has a baby there too, and she sent this great picture of her baby's monitor with Cole's monitor as a subwindow. For some reason this photo brings tears to my eyes.

Intense.
Anyway ... we'll be at home CHillin' for the next couple days. Just the family.
